korp-kOOn-ka

Another destination that I could add to my travelling list.. BANGKOK. Marvelous, magnificient, amazing, fun..For those who wanna know more.. read on.. *gotta bear with me aight*

Day 1, 16th July - Packed with only the basic neccesities in my sling back, boarded the plane to a place where I've never been before, not knowing what to expect. Travel time: 2hrs. Before landing, the cabin crew actually sang a song *still dun know what the title* in their own words. Couldn't help myself but laugh.. Came up with the assumption that in order to be part of the cabin crew, not only must you have da looks, you must also have THE voice. *sniggers*. Well, touch down @ Bangkok International Airport (BIA) approx. at 1845hrs (s'pore time). Bangkok is one hour earlier than our local timing.

The drive to the hotel itself was a thrill. I must really admit that the drivers there are skillful, yet can pose a danger to the passengers. Traffic was really heavy but what I really enjoyed was the colourful cabs; orange, pink, green & of course not forgetting, the "tuks tuks"..Checked in, washed up and decided to walk around the area and hunt for supper. The area that I was in (Pratunam) was vibrant. Lots and lots of stalls set up. Looking for food was a bit tough tho cos most of the restaurants were closed at that point of time. Managed to find this Indian muslim restaurant. Supper was not too bad for me, can't be said for that someone though.. khekhe.. Went straight back to the hotel to prepare for the city tour da next day. Meeting time: 0700hrs.

-END OF DAY 1-

Day 2, 17th July - Woke up early for the complimentary breakfast. Rating: Something that you can skip. Took a coach to 'River City' where a river tour of Bangkok awaits. The tour of the Chao Phraya took about 45mins. Deep inside my heart, I wish that I could see the temple (Wat Arun) that I have read about prior to this trip. And true enough, it did came true. Before I go into further details, I will elaborate more on the river tour itself. Along the way, you could see the skyscrapers of Bangkok, temples, houses on stilts.. etc. There was this part of the river, where you could actually see fishes. They are practically very huge!! and there were lots of them. You could feed them if you buy the bread. There were too many of them, till I myself got scared, hoping hard that they won't actually accidentaly jump into the boat while rushing for their food. *Eeeeks!!* Apart from that, there were women on boats selling some souvenirs.

Finally, we made a stop at 'Wat Arun'. It was breathtaking and stunning. From afar, you could already see the temple. Beautiful, magnificent piece of architecture. There were no words to describe how I feel when I stepped into the temple itself. Most parts of the architecture was made of porcelain. Grab the opportunity to make full use of the digicam to capture each and every angle of the temple. Spent bout 45mins there and after that proceeded back to mainland. Went to the handbag factory where all the goods were made of real leather. They actually have those made of ostrich skin!! Unbelievable. Made our way to the gem factory where nothing interest me although I have to say that those pieces of jewellery are nice. Sadly to say that the down part of the tour was that the tour guide spoke in Mandarin to accomodate the majority. The sucky part was he could actually blabber non stop. Kinda get to my nerves.

Instead of joining the group for lunch, decided to make our own way to the weekend market. (Chatuchak) Shoppers paradise!! Reached there, have lunch and off we enter the market itself. So many things, so little time. Fickle minded at some point of time. Splurge on stuffs there. To say that I was there for bout 3hrs, and I have not even covered 1/5th of the market. Too bad the market closes at 6pm.. If not.. Hahah!! Rushed back to the hotel as arrangements had been made to see the 'Ratchada Cabaret Show' aka "bapok" show.. and the notorious "thai-girl" show ..hehe...

The cabaret show was very lively and I must say that the most of 'women' are simply gorgeous. There were few exceptions though. Haha!! Throughout the show I had chosen my favourite 'women'. She had this Japanese look... Sweet, pretty.. *awww*.. Next, proceeded to the notorious "thai-girl" show. It was eye opening, and I'm astonished bout what they can actually do. I won't go into further details as you got to see it to believe it. Everything ended at bout eleven plus. The day ended with supper at a Muslim restaurant. Ordered macaroni chicken and spaghetti in chicken sauce. Both ended up tasting like pasta in curry. Wat a luck to end da day..

-END OF DAY 2-

Day 3, 18th July - Slept the whole morning as the feeling of lethargic, drained out, got into the body system. Managed to be dragged out of bed as the need to have an adaptor to charge the gadgets became critical. Walked towards the nearest shopping centre and I saw it. 'A&W'. Without any hesitation, decided dat it will be the place for the stomach. Finally, some acceptable food. Walked around the shopping centre, pratunam area, and did some shopping again.. hehe.. Evening time came and we decided to go to the famous shopping centre in Bangkok. The Ma Boon Krong (MBK). The place was really enormous. Lots of shops and I was really really feeling the itch to shop again but I went against it. *tight budget* heheh

We finally decided to have a proper and nice dinner. Got ourselves seats at one of the restaurants in MBK itself. Cosy seats, nice settings. Thai & Jap mixed into one. Ordered a few dishes, ended the splendid meal with a cup of cappucino. Just perfect. Walked around MBK to digest our full stomachs. Going back to the hotel was the main highlight of day. Still contemplating whether to take the train, the cab or the tuks tuks.. Hmmm.. One of the tuk tuk drivers offered 100baht for the trip back. Thinking dat it was not worth it, we decided to take the skytrain, stopped at the nearest station, and hitch a tuk tuk from there. Both of us having the thought that it might be cheaper. So off we went, taking the train and stopping at the nearest station, Phaya Thai. And when we get to hire a tuk tuk, guess how much was the charge?? 150 baht!! Got us dumbfounded for a sec. Not wanting to miss out the experience on riding a tuk tuk, we jus took it. Looking on the positive side, I actually experienced taking the all the public transports of Bangkok, except for the busses though.. Hehe.. *not bad*

-END OF DAY 3 -

Last day, 19th July - Dreaded the feeling that its time to leave the place. Feel that there's so much more to see, and there are still so many places to go. Really gonna miss the place and I won't hesitate to go again if given the chance. The memories that I have in Bangkok will never be erased. To that one special person, you know who you are.. Thank you for everything.

So.. next destination.. BALI perhaps?? hmmm... working on it now. *smiling to myself*
